Paul Gray Unmasked

Black Veil Brides vocalist changes name.....again.

It is not uncommon for bands to change names, sometimes for legal reasons or sometimes to signify a fresh start and a break with the past. It is however bigger news when a front man actually changes his name and this is the story with Metalcore act Black Veil Brides.

Up until now, the vocalist of the group has been going by the name of Andy Six, leading many people to accuse him of trying to pass off on the name of the Motley Crue hell raiser. This has been strongly denied by the band and their fans but the latest announcement from the singer indicates he is returning to using his real surname, Biersack.

What's in a name anyway?

No doubt the singer had his reasons for changing his name when the band were starting out but whatever they were, they couldn't have been that serious now he has switched back. Perhaps his parents are now fully accepting of his day job and the way his band dress up to grab attention!

This makes absolutely no difference to the band's music but may cause some confusion amongst fans. Fans of the group get to hear material from the man now known as Andy Biersack and the rest of the group when Black Veil Bride release their album in June. The title of the album will be 'Set The World On Fire' and there will be a single preceding the album called 'Fallen Angels'.

Slipknot looks to set to continue in some form after death of former bassist

After the sad passing of bassist Paul Gray, many wondered whether Slipknot would ever perform again. The band decided that the best way to honour the memory of their former bassist was to play some shows this summer and these gigs look set to be one of the major metal events of the summer.

What is the long-term future?

However, considerable doubt was placed on the long term future of the group when Corey Taylor announced he found it difficult to conceive the band continuing without Gray. Although upsetting for some fans, this response was not unexpected and these summer shows would allow the band the opportunity to say their goodbyes to their fan-base in a proper and fitting manner.

It now seems that the news of the end of the band may have been a little bit premature.

Joey Jordinson, drummer for the band, says the band is likely to carry on, even if Taylor has no interest in being in the band. Whether this indicates a change in direction from the common consensus of the group or whether this indicates a split appearing in the band line-up, there appears to be a lot of talking to come from the Slipknot members.

Given the fact that so many of the main players in the group have other projects to be working on, it is not as if Slipknot were ever going to be a full-time project for all concerned but there is no reason why they cannot resurface from time to time with new releases and gigs.
